1. Responsible party and contact details

Frantech Electronics (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2013/122984/07, is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. Privacy questions, objections and requests can be sent to admin@frantechelectronics.co.za or delivered to Unit 16, 16 Suttie Avenue, Halfway House, Midrand, 1685, South Africa.

2. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

• identity, company, account and contact details;
• RFQs, quotations, orders, invoices, delivery and payment-related records;
• repair, support, project and product information you provide;
• emails, calls, enquiries, feedback and other communications;
• account activity, preferences and marketing choices; and
• device, browser, IP address, cookie, security and diagnostic information generated when you use the website.

3. How we obtain information

We collect information directly from you, from an organisation you represent, through your use of our systems, and where appropriate from service providers, business partners or public sources. Please provide another person’s information only when you are authorised to do so.

4. Why we use personal information

We use personal information to:

• create and secure accounts and provide requested website features;
• respond to enquiries and prepare RFQs, quotations and orders;
• deliver products, repairs, projects, support and customer service;
• manage billing, accounting, warranties, returns and business records;
• communicate service updates and, where permitted, relevant marketing;
• detect misuse, protect our systems and investigate incidents;
• improve our products, services, processes and website; and
• comply with legal, regulatory, tax and contractual obligations.

We process information where necessary to take steps at your request, perform a contract, comply with law, pursue a legitimate business purpose that does not unjustifiably affect your rights, protect a legitimate interest, or where you have consented.

5. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential cookies and local storage for functions such as authentication, security, carts and preferences. If optional analytics or marketing technology is enabled, we will provide any notice or choice required by law. You can control cookies through your browser, but disabling essential storage may prevent parts of the website from working.

6. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share only what is reasonably necessary with employees and authorised service providers, including hosting, IT, email, accounting, payment, banking, courier, supplier, professional advisory and security providers. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in a legitimate business restructuring subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. Cross-border processing

Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use recipients, contractual protections or other grounds that satisfy POPIA’s requirements for cross-border transfers.

8. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, an ongoing business relationship, dispute resolution, security, or a legal and regulatory retention requirement. We then delete, destroy or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and alteration. No internet or storage system is completely secure. Please protect your credentials and notify us if you suspect unauthorised account activity.

10. Your choices and rights

Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may ask us to:

• confirm whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
• correct, update or delete inaccurate, excessive or unlawfully held information;
• object to certain processing or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
• stop direct marketing communications; or
• explain a decision or restriction affecting your request.

11. Direct marketing

You may opt out of marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe method in a message or contacting us. We may still send operational communications about an active account, request or transaction.

12. Children

The storefront is intended for adults and business users. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information without the authorisation required by law. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should contact us.
